The band that wraps around the interior of the current Jaguar XJ can be referred to as the “Riva Line.” I remember Jaguar’s design team always mentioned they took cues from the 60s Riva Aquaramas.

Though personally, I find the XJ to be too modern for that marketing statement. Calling that a “Riva Line” is a bit strange now since Riva itself doesn’t really push that cue anymore. I mean its expected on any large boat. Now the 60s boats, hell yes! The wrap around windshield is a huge deal. That’s what it refers to, but it’s a weird reference when you compare a 2011 XJ and a 2011 Riva Aquariva Super. I guess that’s what you can do when none of your XJ buyers are yacht owners.

I would agree that there is something in the design of Rivas and Jags that compliment each other well. But all British car designs seem to be yacht inspired where as American car designs seem to love jets. Not saying these are mutually exclusive, just a thought.

We got both. But Honda doesn’t sound like Riva.
